AmaMagna: Best of Both Worlds

The AmaMagna stands out because of her double-width design, offering significantly more space than traditional river cruise ships. River cruise ship dimensions are usually limited by the size of the locks that they need to navigate.

AmaWaterways’ founder and co-owner, Rudi Schreiner, has never been one to follow conventional trends. With the launch of the AmaMagna, Rudi brought to life his vision of a double-width river vessel, including features usually only available on small ocean ships. Measuring twenty-two metres in width, the AmaMagna is restricted to cruising the Danube, where the locks are just twenty-four metres wide. However, this still allows for a broad range of itineraries, from Vilshofen in Germany to Romania on the Black Sea.

This innovative design brings a sense of openness, blending the attraction of river cruising with the amenities of a larger ocean ship. The decor is modern and stylish, with elegant furnishings and light-filled public areas.

My Experience

I have had two opportunities to tour AmaWaterways river ship, AmaMagna and she is absolutely stunning. From the thoughtfully designed lounges to the spacious staterooms the ship is beautiful. From the moment I stepped onboard, I was struck by the sense of space. There are several areas to sit and relax and the choice of dining venues is inviting.

Deck Layout

Sun Deck (top): features an expansive sun deck with a pop-up sky bar, a heated pool, whirlpool, walking track and pickleball court, offering a perfect mix of leisure and active spaces.
Violin Deck (upper): guest staterooms, the main lounge, lower lounge, Zen Wellness Studio and Massage Rooms and the Al Fresco Restaurant
Cello Deck (middle): guest staterooms and the main restaurant
Piano Deck (lower): guest staterooms (with fixed windows), staff accommodation, Jimmy’s Restaurant and The Chef’s Table Restaurant.

The AmaMagna’s sun deck offers plenty of space for relaxation, with a heated pool, whirlpool, and the unique addition of a full-size pickleball court. The pop-up sky bar is a wonderful place to enjoy drinks and take in the views while sailing. With ample seating and shaded areas, it is a favourite spot for guests to unwind and enjoy the scenery.

Dining on the AmaMagna is a standout feature, with four unique dining venues:

Main Restaurant: a variety of seasonal, locally inspired dishes with an international flair.
The Chef’s Table: a gourmet dining experience featuring a multi-course tasting menu.
Al Fresco Restaurant: a lighter menu with outdoor seating.
Jimmy’s: a family-style dining option, offering a warm and casual atmosphere.

Wellness and Active Excursions
